An epic retelling of an interesting chapter from Maratha history
The movie, which was delayed owing to the pandemic, is based mostly on a person of the most well-known incidents from Maratha history – the Battle of Pavan Khind. At the outset, the makers make it very clear that this is not a finish documentation of the struggle, its prelude or aftermath, but a cinematic recreation intended to showcase the bravery of the Marathas included in this struggle. So, there are cinematic liberties taken in this retelling, but the crux of the tale is preserved.
The story about the Fight of Pavan Khind (previously acknowledged as Ghod Khind) and the bravery shown by Bajiprabhu Deshpande and the Bandal army of 600 versus the Siddhi Masud and the soldiers of the Adilshahi Sultanate is very well identified throughout Maharashtra. The end result – Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s successful escape from Panhalgad to Vishalgad. But, does Lanjekar be successful in recreating this important chapter from Marathi background on monitor? Absolutely!
Pawankhind is a thorough cinematic knowledge that is match for the huge display screen. The film is bold in trying to explore this story in two and a 50 % hrs, but it mostly succeeds in producing the suitable establish up and atmosphere that qualified prospects to a wonderful climax. From laying out the rationale and the figures included in it, to the siege of Panhala by Siddhi Jauhar, the escape strategy and the true fight, Pawankhind lays out all its cards in entrance you chronologically, although inducing a dose of historical past, drama and even comic aid in involving. The movie doesn’t skip out on giving due credit rating to the vast majority of the generals who assisted Shivaji Maharaj realise his dream of Swarajya.
As for the actors, it’s not an uncomplicated process to provide some of the most properly –known names from the Marathi film and Television field alongside one another in a multi-starrer of this scale. But the casting office and makers pull off this feat. Chinmay Mandlekar as Shivaji Maharaj, Ajay Purkar as Bajiprabhu Deshpande, Sameer Dharmadhikari as Siddhi Jauhar, Aastad Kale as Siddhi Masud, Ankit Mohan as Rayaji Bandal, Mrinal Kulkarni as Maasaheb Jijau, Akshay Waghmare as Koyaji Bandal each actor has supplied his very best to their roles. Even the supporting solid has some memorable performances from Kshitee Jog as Badi Begum, Harish Dudhade as Bahirji Naik, Shivraj Waichal as Harpya, Rishi Saxena as Rustam Zaman. Yet another notable overall performance that stands out is that of Ajinkya Nanaware as Shiva Kashid, the person who resembled Shivaji Maharaj and sacrificed himself for his king. The scenes involving Ajinkya and Chinmay are bound to deliver tears to your eyes.
Even though Pawankhind excels in storytelling, the technological aspects, although very good, could have been greater. The track record rating overpowers dialogues in some critical scenes, and the action choreography in some scenes fails to make the slice. Nonetheless, all stated and carried out, the full staff has performed its best to make this a big display encounter. Maybe with a greater spending budget, these issues can be ironed out in the next films of Lanjekar’s sequence.
For now, Pawankhind is a wonderful enjoy, and at the cinemas only.
