SIGNIFICANT HISTORY
2018: Despite a Playoff career-high 51 points from LeBron James, the Cavaliers lost NBA Finals Game 1 to the Golden State Warriors after George Hill’s missed game-winning free throw led to JR Smith’s mental error when he forgot the score with less than 5 seconds left in the game
2007: LeBron James scored 29 of Cleveland’s final 30 points, including 25 straight as the Cavs defeated the Detroit Pistons in 2OT to take a 3-2 series lead in the Eastern Conference Finals that led to King James’ 1st NBA Finals appearance
1998: Michael Jordan’s Chicago Bulls defeated Reggie Miller’s Indiana Pacers in Eastern Conference Finals Game 7 to clinch their 3rd straight Finals and 6th straight during MJ’s final 6 full seasons with Chicago. This was Jordan’s final winner-take-all game where his 36.8 PPG in such games is the most all-time
1993: Down 2-1 to the New York Knicks and after a poor showing in Game 3, Chicago Bulls SG Michael Jordan scored 54 points to even the series and shift momentum. This is the highest-scoring performance against the Knicks in NBA postseason history to this day
1991: The New York Knicks announced the hiring of Pat Riley as their new Head Coach. The Knicks won at least 1 Playoff series in all 4 of Riley’s years as HC in NY including a Finals visit in 1994
1983: The Philadelphia 76ers swept the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA Finals to win their 3rd championship in franchise history. C Moses Malone’s famous “Fo’ Fo’ Fo’” consecutive sweeps prediction nearly came true, as the 76ers lost just one single game throughout the postseason
